ABOUT US

Meet Dr. Nick Boyd

Dear Patients,

Thank you for checking out our website, I really hope I have the opportunity to meet you!

Family is a huge part of my life. One of the first things you will notice when you enter our office is the family environment. I have been married to my amazing wife Alli for 16 years and we have 4 energetic children.  Our oldest, Camden, is 11 and loves anything and everything to do with sports, London our 9 year old is sweet as sugar and the nicest big sister you could ask for. Alice is our goofy 7 year old who always keeps us laughing. Hudson is 3 and melts all our hearts with his silly sayings. My hobbies include spending time with my family, sports & hiking, attending and serving in my church, and coaching my son’s little league baseball, basketball and soccer teams.

I was born and raised in the area and attended South River High school. Many years later I graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. My grandparents lived in Eastport for most of my childhood. Storm Bros. ice cream and a walk down the Annapolis docks are our favorite family date night. I love the beauty of this area and the people are always welcoming and kind.

I am passionate about improving the lives of my patients. That includes doing my best to help avoid cavities and tooth pain. I also find it very rewarding to help diagnose and treat sleep apnea.

I look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Dr. Nick Boyd

HAPPY PATIENTS

I’ve had a very long and hard road with my teeth and dentistry when I was younger and because of that I haven’t been in far, far too long. I was directed to try Doctor Boyd and I’m so happy that I did. My experience was wonderful and patient (I am very anxious). The entire team is so very nice and caring. They take the time to really get to know who you are and what you need. Doctor Boyd showed me great care in the first time meeting him and for that I’m very grateful. I’ve found the one! And my little soon to be baby girl will have a comfortable and trustworthy place to take of her teeth as well.

Thank you so much!!

Dr. Boyd is really the best. I have never been a fan of the dentist. Dr. Boyd has an awesome personality that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed the second you sit in the chair. His entire staff are friendly and helpful. Put your fears aside and give him a call. You won’t be sorry.

Dr. Boyd is one of the best people I have ever met in my life. He is one of the kindest, most considerate, generous, caring and compassionate people on this Earth. I am truly blessed to have met him and to be his patient. Dr. Boyd’s desire for his patients’ wellbeing is extraordinarily genuine. His professional skills are above and beyond any expectation one may have of a dentist. Moreover, he is an expert implant specialist, who within several months had perfectly solved my three-implant problem, an issue I had dealt with for years with purported implant specialist-surgeons. I never felt any pain or any discomfort during his care. He singlehandedly solved all my normal dental issues and performed three implants at a cost far less than several specialists I had seen before with which had wasted so much money on incompetent, desperate-for-money so-called doctors. I cannot emphasize how amazing Dr. Boyd is. If you are in need of dental care, I implore you to visit him first. You will be glad you did and will consider yourself blessed to have had a chance to receive his absolutely perfect and compassionate service. Thank you, Dr. Boyd for all you have done for me – I am forever grateful.

Success Stories

OUR SERVICES

Routine Exams

Dr. Boyd likes to see his patients every 6 months to prevent tooth decay. If it's been longer than 6 months give us a call we miss you!

Dental Hygiene

One of the most important aspects of your overall oral health is keeping your teeth and gums clean and strong. To help in this effort, we provide dental cleanings and exams for your entire family. The goal of dental cleanings and exams is to provide preventive measures to stop tooth decay before it emerges while also beginning any necessary treatment planning.

Dental Fillings

When decay occurs to your tooth enamel, our dentists will likely use a dental filling to repair the damage. Dental fillings are dental restorations made from a variety of materials; they are directly applied to the surface of your tooth to fill in the empty spaces left once decay is removed.

Sleep Apnea

Snoring is a very common problem. Not only does it affect the sleep of the person snoring, it also affects the bed partner. Did you know that snoring could be a sign of something more? Under diagnosed and frequently dismissed simply as harmless, yet annoying snoring, "Obstructive Sleep Apnea" (OSA) is a very dangerous condition.

If you or a loved one snore loudly at night, please have a sleep study done to rule out this potentially fatal condition. Please contact us to help guide you.

Crowns

Dental crowns are a common type of dental restoration used to restore both the functionality and beauty of a damaged tooth. Tooth-shaped caps, dental crowns completely encase a tooth up to the gum line. Our dentists work hard to guarantee each dental crown fits properly and looks natural with the rest of your smile.

Veneers

If you are embarrassed to smile because of multiple dental flaws, or if you are simply looking for a more permanent restoration, Dr. Boyd may suggest porcelain veneers. Veneers are wafer-thin shells that are bonded to the front of your teeth to perfect the shape, color, size, and alignment of a damaged or decayed tooth. Made from porcelain, which is tough, translucent, and stain resistant, veneers are ideal for our patients looking to make more dramatic changes to their smiles.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is one of our most popular cosmetic treatments and is often requested for its ability to dramatically transform your smile in a short amount of time.

Bridges

If you are missing one or more teeth, Dr. Boyd may recommend you consider dental bridges. A dental bridge is a permanent dental restoration ideal for replacing a single tooth or multiple teeth that are missing in a row.

Emergency Dentistry

If you feel that you need to see a dentist immediately, call 410-757-7070. We excel in emergency treatment and pain relief. If you’re in pain and can’t wait for relief, we’ll schedule an appointment right away.

A toothache is a pain in or around a tooth that may be caused by:

  • Tooth decay

  • Abscessed tooth

  • Tooth fracture

  • A damaged filling

  • Repetitive motions, such as chewing gum or grinding teeth

  • Infected gums

Call us as soon as possible about your toothache if:

  • You have a toothache that lasts longer than 1 or 2 days

  • Your toothache is severe

  • You have a fever, earache, or pain upon opening your mouth wide

Proper identification and treatment of dental infections prevents its spreading to other parts of the face and skull and possibly even to the bloodstream.

TMJ

Located on either side of your ears, directly in front of your ears, is the temporomandibular joint, also known as the TMJ. Your TMJ is responsible for allowing your jaw to move smoothly, helping you eat, chew, speak, laugh, and yawn comfortably. However, some circumstances arise where the TMJ becomes stressed or strained, causing pain and discomfort. Many people with damage to the TMJ experience:

  • A stuck or locked jaw

  • Clicking, popping, or grating noises when moving the jaw

  • Facial pain, swelling, or tenderness

  • Difficulty opening your mouth wide

There are many different ways to treat the TMJ based on your individual situation and the severity of your case. Care methods at home, such as ice and medication, are often effective. Other cases require the use of dental devices, such as splints or mouth guards. For more serious damage, surgery may also be recommended.

Dentures

Dr. Boyd understands that many of our patients who have experienced tooth loss are hesitant about committing to extensive treatments that require surgery or reshaping your teeth. If you are looking for a more affordable, non-invasive method for replacing teeth, Dr. Boyd may suggest dentures. What are Dentures? Dentures are removable prosthetic teeth that are ideal for replacing most or all of your smile. We offer many different types of dentures, including full dentures and partial dentures.

Sedation Dentistry

We understand that many of our patients experience fear or anxiety when they think about visiting the dentist. We never want anyone to put off getting the treatment they need because of dental phobia. To ensure you always have a positive experience when you come to see us, we provide high-quality sedation dentistry. Sedation dentistry includes all of the methods that we use to help you feel relaxed and free of pain during your treatment.

Our Services

SNORING AND SLEEP APNEA

Snoring

Snoring is a very common problem. Not only does it affect the sleep of the person snoring, it also affects the bed partner. We make jokes about snoring and sleeping in separate rooms. We see internet ads and infomercials about “Stop Snoring Now!”, but did you know that snoring could be a sign of something more? Under-diagnosed and frequently dismissed simply as harmless, yet annoying snoring, “Obstructive Sleep Apnea” (OSA) is a very dangerous condition.

If you or a loved one snore loudly at night, please have a sleep study done to rule out this potentially fatal condition. Please contact us to help guide you.

Sleep Apnea

Do you wake up frequently during the night? Do you have to use the bathroom once or twice a night? Do you wake up with a sore jaw, headaches, sore neck muscles, dry mouth? These are all potential side effects of a sleep disordered breathing.

Dr. Boyd would love to help you sleep better! Click below to find out how.

TMJ/Headaches

TMJ issues are often related to not sleeping well. When we struggle to breath properly while sleeping, we unknowingly take it out on our jaws. This often happens via clenching and grinding your teeth together. When you wake up your jaws and muscles around your head can often feel sore and tired. The first step to feeling better and not having TMJ pains is to discuss your symptoms with Dr. Boyd and make a game plan.
